The ONDA Experience
Social-First
Our trips are designed for solo travelers to meet. We don’t do private tours; everyone joins the collective group.
Peer-Led, Vibe-Focused
Our volunteers (The Social Butterflies) aren’t professional guides; they are here to handle the logistics and keep the energy high. The discovery is up to the group!
No Solo Tax
We organize the group and the transport so you never have to worry about the logistics or the cost of exploring alone.
Know Before You Go: The Trail Guide
Boquete is a cloud forest, which means the weather can change from “sunny paradise” to “mystical rain shower” in about five minutes. Here is what to expect on our rotation:
Pipeline Trail
The Vibe: An “easy-breezy” nature walk. It follows an old water pipeline through lush forest.
Highlight: This is Quetzal territory. Keep your eyes peeled near the “1,000-Year-Old Tree” (it’s massive—you can’t miss it).
Difficulty: 2/10
El Pianista
The Vibe: A mystical climb into the deep cloud forest. The trail eventually turns into a narrow, moss-covered “canyon” that feels like something out of Jurassic Park.
Highlight: Reaching the continental divide. If the clouds part, the views are incredible, but even in the mist, the canyon walls are a photographer’s dream.
Difficulty: 6/10
The 3 Waterfall Hike
The Vibe: Known locally as “The Lost Waterfalls,” this trail delivers exactly what it promises.
Highlight: You get three distinct experiences: One massive fall for the “wow” factor, one with a pool perfect for a refreshing (okay, freezing) swim, and a third that requires a fun roped scramble to reach.
Difficulty: 5/10
Cascada Jagüatta & Hot Springs
The Vibe: The ultimate “Sunday Funday.” We head out of the mountains and down into the warmer Caldera region. It’s more of a relaxing time in the water than an active hike!
Highlight: Adrenaline + Reset. We start with a mini hike to Cascada Jagüatta, which features an 8-meter cliff jump into a deep pool. Afterward, we soak our sore muscles in the Caldera Hot Springs (five natural volcanic pools).
Difficulty: 4/10
What’s Included?
Every ticket includes:
Entrance fee
Round-trip transportation
A drink at the bar after your hike!
How to Join the Pack
Getting involved is easy. Just follow the 8-9-Bar rule:
- The Night Before: Head to the bar and look for the laminated signup sheet. Write your name down and pay the trail fee upfront.
- Keep Your Ticket: The bartender will give you a receipt. This is your “boarding pass” for the van and your voucher for a drink later!
- 8:00 AM – The Pitch: Join us for the family breakfast! Our Social Butterfly will announce the day’s trail and details.
- 9:00 AM – Departure: The van leaves at 9:00 AM. (If the van is still here, you can still join! No cut-off times for last-minute legends.)
- Post-Hike – The Bar: When we get back, the whole group heads straight to the bar to share photos, stories, and that included cold drink while the “trail high” is still fresh.
